PS4 controller on pc compatibility

If I hook up a PS4 controller to my PC via usb to micro-usb cable, will it recognize the controller? will there be any compatibility issues? Also, will button prompts be in ABXY or circle/square/triangle/X?

You need third party drivers.

Will emulate an official windows controller with xinput.

Button prompts will be abxy like a windows controller.

If you have Windows 10, it will recognize it as a microsoft controller and will work perfectly on Full Controller supported games (GTA V, Witcher 3, Fallout 4). On some others you will need third party drivers like DS4 windows or InputMapper. If you're not running Windows 10, you'll need the Third Party Drivers.

You can just Plug & Play for the newer AAA games (like Fallout 4 and Witcher 3). If you just plug it in and it doesn't work, then you will have to download DS4Windows or InputMapper.

GTA V doesn't recognize it, you need DS4Windows
