Question PS4 controller won't charge

Hi, apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I have a PS4 controller. For the last few months, I've had to wiggle and jiggle the charging cable in the charging port for a while until I find the sweet spot where it will charge.

I assumed the charging port was broken, so I ordered a new one, with a new ribbon, and installed them, however it still won't charge.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is? I assumed with the wiggling necessary for it to make a connection that it was obviously the port. Why would the wiggling makes difference if it wasn't the port?

It's just wear and tear man, replugging often. Could just get another controller and an extension cable so it's always connected.
