Hi,

I recently took my PS4 apart to clean the fan (following this teardown guide: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/PlayStation+4+CUH-1200+Entire+Console+Disassembly/52475). I went as far as step 8 to get access to the fan and clean it out. I did not disconnect the PSU from the motherboard. Since cleaning the PS4 now makes a popping sound whenever the power cable is plugged in at the back, it never used to. I've been looking online and everything seems to suggest loose cables or some arcing could be the culprit. Is this something I should be worried about?

Unplug the cord from the wall outlet. Plug the cord into the PSU. Then plug the cord back into the wall. Always unplug from the wall outlet first.

Thanks, I've tried it that way and there's no popping noise. Where the outlet is for the PS4 is awkward to get to which is why I normally just unplug from the back of the ps4. In the past it's never made any noise when being plugged in to the PSU second. Looking through the back grill I can't see any big sparks when the popping noise occurs just wondering if I need to worry about it thats all.

Thx11 had a great answer!

But....no it shouldn't! Its been designed so that it doesn't get damaged through things like this! Play some games on it and if everything is fine then its cushty!
