On the six pin connectors on my PSU, there is an extra 2 pins on the side, I think for an 8 pin connector. I was going to change out my motherboard, however the CPU power connecter is 4 pin. I was wondering if I could use two of those 2 pin connecters to provide power.

PSU: Corsair CX750

IK this is slightly confusing, let me know if you need further clarification.

It is annoying the first time, but once you have an 8pin connector on the board you will appreciate the the two 4pin connectors stay together so well. Some cables fit very loose and it is difficult to plug in both 4pins at the same time.

Okay just to be sure before I start plucking out wires, the 8 pin CPU power connector on the Corsair CX750 (non-modular) can be separated?

^^ that.

Here is an image from the Corsair web page:

Ah, okay. I'll split the cable, and fire up my rig. I'll let y'all know how it works out.
