Question PSU chirping noise

Hello community,

I've just recently built a new gaming rig and noticed a strange chirping noise coming from the PSU.

This happens when the pc is turned on and off. The only way to stop the sound is to unplug the power cord connecting the PSU or by flicking off the PSU switch.

Things I've tried to resolve the issue without success:
a. plugging it into different wall sockets & power bricks
b. changing rooms and plugging it into different outlets
c. replacing the power cord with a spare one

I've since tested the PSU further by only plugging the power connectors (mobo, cpu & gpu) individually and have noticed that the PSU doesn't make any sound when plugged into CPU and GPU. It only chirps when plugging the 24 pin into the mobo.

The sound is definitely coming from inside the PSU.

Would this be a faulty PSU or a faulty mobo?

thats a solid build, but why did you go with that power supply exactly?

Hmm it is because other products they stock aren't suitable for my wattage. It is also the first time I've gone and chose my own pc parts. My last computer is 13 years old :0.

Bah, unfortunately, Austin Computers appears to have a pretty garbagey return policy. A 20% restocking fee for any opened return is a bit crappy. I might be inclined to contact Corsair at this point.

As @DSzymborski said contact corsair directly and they'll get u an RMA and probably free shipping.

Are you planning on overclocking the GPU?

Probably not because it runs world of warcraft perfectly as is with a lot of room to spare.

None the less, tell them that you want to return the power supply if they didn't agree just contact corsair directly instead.

Might ask them to exchange it for credit towards an upline Corsair....R, H, or A series.

Most places are interested in keeping your money, and get even more interested if you are willing to shell-out a bit more of it.
