Hi Guys,
I need to replace an old and noise PSU for an Corsair CX450M or CX550
I saw on the forum that the CX450M is made by CWT whose fan makes much less noise.
The CX550 although more efficient is made by the Great Wall but makes more noise.
I use a old Dell with its original 305W PSU with a GT1030 GPU (for watching movies and using Illustrator).
I've tried PSU calculator and it says the recommended PSU wattage is 340W.
For the same price, do you recommend the CX450M or the CX550 ? Thanks

Solution
Cx450M is CWT made only. CX550 can be made by CWT or Great Wall. CX550 has a more modern LLC platfrom. I recommand the CX550.

You see the calculator is lying. You're using an old 305w for years without any issues. You're probably fine with a new 300w PSU. What CPU is in the Dell?

Thanks for the tip. You won't believe it: !
The PC is an old Optiplex 745 with about 14 years of use (basically 24/7).
CPU is an Intel Core 2 E6600 2400GHz.
It has 8GB Ram DDR2 800, Gigabyte GT 1030 GPU, Crucial MX500 SSD running W10 x64 (21H1), 2 HDs 7200 and a PCi-e card for USB 3.0.
It's unbelievable that such an old machine runs so smoothly.
The question remains if the CX550 won't have a higher annual consumption of energy that won't be used. Thanks again for youy quick response ;)
