From my previous question for advice regarding new psu, I decided to go with the recommended focus gx as the other one is out of stock.

When it arrived last Saturday I immediately test it it run fine for the first 10-20minutes, and then it suddenly turn off, I need to unplug the psu to make it turn on again but it last shorter at about 5 minutes, after 6th attempt iirc it totally died and wont turn on, I tried to jump it but it won't turn on either, because I don't have a fan I use some hard drive as load. There is only a clicking sound, the fan didn't even turn on.
My Spec :
- CPU: I have 2 actually ryzen 5 3500 and 2400G, for now I will use 2400G because my GPU broke
-Mobo: gigabyte b450i aorus wifi
-GPU: nothing
-Drive: 1x 512GB nvme ssd, 1x 2TB 3.5" HDD
-Memory: 2x8GB 3000Mhz team group stick, forgot the exact name
My motherboard and processor is brand new( I use the 2400g ) so I think it's not their fault, not really sure but I think it is not ram and ssd(low power and such), I it the HDD? Can it even do that or it is something else entirely? Oh in my 4th attempt I think I tried to power it up with my r9 280x that I thought broke and it power up about 5minutes like in other case. I then tried to power it up only with ssd and 1 stick of ram still the same.
I already sent the unit back to the seller and they will replace it so I will be getting a new unit soon. The problem is I want to know what cause it so it didn't happen again. Is it my other components or just a bad PSU?

Update from the shop, they tested it and the psu works fine on their system, I tested mine with my cooler master and it turns on. Why it isn't working with the other unit? Is my system pull a lot more than the psu can handle? Isn't it supposed to be only 200-300w max?

Your first qoute discribes a heating wire creating a dead short. Check all your cables in your case
Sorry I should have mentioned it earlier, after my 2nd attempt I took everything out of the case and run it outside, also even though everything is turned off, the rgb is still on.
When you says cable do you mean the front io cables? I'm not really sure how to check it but at least physically it looks fine to me no shorted, damaged, or burnt cables, it's also properly connected to the front io as far as I can see it.

Edit: I did a bit more research and an extra standoff may cause a short, my case is Silverstone SG13, It's designed for mini itx so I think it shouldn't have any extra standoff, it's my first time building on this case so I'm not really sure.

Sorry for the confusion. If you can use a diffrent psu while the mobo is outside of the case, powered on, feel the cables for heat. Because what you described sounds like a cable insolation got melted and created a short that caused the psu to shut down without warning but you would have noticed a smell if it happend. Make sure that all power cables is securely plugged in mobo and gpu and storage drives because a loose conection can cause sudden shut down and or strange problems and errors and drives to fail

Iirc there is no smell, not sure about heat though. I think all the cables is already plugged in all the way. I'll try to test run it outside firs tomorrow when the new psu arrive, before I tested it when it's already built inside the case because all other components is working, but I guess it's better to test it first outside to make sure.
Is melted cable insolation a common occurrence? What usually caused it?

Insolation is when Sun is shining over your wiring. Usually make no damage except your computer is thrown out in open space somewhere in Mercury's orbit. I believe you mean wire insulation here.

Melted insulation happens when current demand for connected device exceed current possible to flow through wire without heating and melting it. In short - when wire is too thin. Other case - wire insulation is cracked and power and ground wires make a short, then heat up and sometimes melt. If yopur wiring is intact without insulation and connector damage, then either PSU or connected devices are faulty. Or bad contact inside some socket.

Because they tested it and its working on their system, and mine is working with my other psu, there is a possibility they use different cable when they test it, and the one I got maybe have some bad contact in the connector, right?
Hopefully it's the issue before and my components is not faulty.

I am certain an extra standoff will short out or ground out your PSU and caused your problem with the PSU tripping off to protect itself from overloading.

The question now is whether or not you burned up your motherboard by repeatedly trying to start the PSU when it kept shutting off...

Looking at my case photo and manual I don't think there is an extra standoff, I think they are fixed and not removable. I'll take it apart later anyway when I got home from work because I need to build it anyway, hopefully the psu already arrived by then. I think the motherboard is fine because when I tried using my other psu(cooler master v850) it's working normally.
Are there any other things that can short or ground psu except extra standoff?

Another update the new psu arrived, tested it outside and inside the case, when I tested it outside and feel the cable there is no heat nor smell. I even managed to add another 1tb 2 5" HDD and an R9 280x without a problem. Checked the case and no extra stand off as it's already fixed to the case and no extra hole.
So there is several possibility
  1. My system pull more than 550w and the psu trip, which is nearly impossible looking at my system spec.
  2. The psu actual capacity below the rated capacity, which is unlikely because the review I read said otherwise.
  3. The psu is faulty, and the seller is lying when saying the psu is working.
  4. The seller use a different cable when testing, and the one I got have faulty connector or maybe just bad cable, and as jacozeelie and krotow mentioned have loose connection or bad contact with the socket.
  5. I honestly refuse to believe it's this one. I plug the front io reversed plus to minus and vice versa. From my previous experience they are reversible.
I'm not sure which one is the answer though
