PSU error trying GTX980 G1 SLI

Hi, Im trying to setup a SLI with 2 GTX980 G1 (Gigabyte)

Ive the computer working perfectly with 1 of them, but Im trying to set up it with 2 ( Ive never config a SLI in my life )

When I plug both , I get this error on boot : "please power down and connect the pcie power cable for this graphics card"

Ive checked the cables , using both of them on a single GPU and in both cases works fine. So the cable and connection to PSU it seams to not be the problem, but when I plug it both, I got that error.

Do you think I need a more W PSU??? or what could be the problem ??

It is recommended to have min 750watts for that setup and may be the issue! Since not enough power would be same as no connection.

650W is not enough for SLI 980s.

Sorry !!! Great error writting I forgot to tell you my PSU : its Corsair RM850 850W 80 Plus Gold

The 650 pure is the box

Cooler Master Silencio 650 Pure, Googling it shows a case ONLY, no power supply. What model and power supply are you using?

You ARE hooking up two (2) 6 Pin PCI-E power cable to BOTH cards (that's four (4) PCI-E cables in total you will need). And the SLI bridge?

You need about 165w per card. So, 330watts for GPU's about 200watts for the system, so a good Strong 650watt supply will work, I'd just rather see a 750watter for good measure.

AH, 850watts is Plenty. And RM 850 watt Corsair is one of the best (very Strong).....

Read my other post, I'll BET you Only have two (2) of the four (4) required PCI-E power cables hooked up....

I am presuming that OP is using 2 connector cables one to each card with both connectors used!

Do you think its needed to change some on the bios ??? Ive disconnect the DVD also, but still happens the same.

in the first photo you see I have 2 PCI cables on my hand ( both was on the second card ) and the other 2 pci cables connected to the actual single GTX inserted.

Hi , Thanks a lot for all your answers.

Finally I tried again with another 2 PCI cables I had and now its worked perfectly.

Ive done my 3dmark test and im very happy with the results
