Hey Folks,

Greetings!

I'm currently building a gaming rig and following is the configuration so far I've chosen:
i7-6700k 4.0 Ghz
MSI z170 M7
RAM: G.skill Ripjaws V 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3200MHz
Gigabyte Nvidia gtx 970 G1 Gaming edition 4gb
Segate HDD, 2tb
LG 24MP77HM - 60.45 cm (23.8) IPS LED Full HD Monitor
Cooler Master Haf X (Stock 4 fans - 140mm, 200mm(2), and 230mm, I might add 2 more)

I have 2 questions:

--First, the mobo supports ram for following frequencies:
3600(OC)/ 3200(OC)/ 3000(OC)/ 2800(OC)/ 2600(OC)/ 2400/ 2133 MHz
Would 3200 be compatible? I'm aware that it's mentioned ,however it has OC appended to it. Is it compatible when the processor is running over clocked?

Second, help with PSU.
I used the following link to calculate the PSU: http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator
(Expert Mode)

Result: Load Wattage: 370 W
Recommended PSU Wattage: 420 W
Can someone please confirm if this calculation is correct?

What Watt PSU do you suggest? Also if you could suggest a few brands it would be much appreciated :)

Thanks fellas :)

About the RAM: When you overckock the CPU you should first down-clock the RAM to normal and when you are happy with the CPU oc then start overclocking the RAM again . I would get an 1000w psu to not be at any risk. Good brands of PSUs are Seasonic, XFX, Thermaltake, Corsair etc check this PSU tier list and try to get a psu in tier 1 or 2 http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

Can you elaborate a bit more?

I was going with 2 sticks of 8 gb each of 3200Mhz so would like to know if this ram will be compatible with my motherboard? or should I go with 2400 Mhz? I'm not interested in over clocking as of now, however later I might.

I figured out that cooler does not come with i7-6700k, I'll be going for Cooler Master hyper EVO 😀

If you get a 3200Mhz ram module, it is capable of running at 2400mhz as well. It just have profiles for you to choose to run at 3200Mhz and tested if it can run overclocked to 3200Mhz.
It should be compatible. There is a compatibility list of tested modules that would work on that motherboard.
