Hello everyone!

I was just wondering if I could get some help with overclocking. I have my full build in my signature. Just the highlights though, I have the 770, i5 3570k, and a 80+ Bronze 600w corsair PSU. I am aware that I cannot overlock anything as of now using the 600w PSU, so what I want to know is, what PSU should I get to overclock the CPU to 4.2, and the GPU to 1250, not asking that much I don't think pretty reasonable Overclocks. I am thinking of the Roswell 80+ Gold Modular 750whttp://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-Certified-Power-Supply-CAPSTONE-750-M/dp/B0081XXIRA/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1388004563&sr=8-8&keywords=750w+power . Obviously I know that that would do the trick, but should I be thinking 800 or 850? I'm not sure how much extra wattage these overclocks will need. Hope you all have a great Christmas!

Thanks in advanced!

you should be able to overclock with no...

hmm why do you think 600w is not enough? in fact the specs you see in my sig right now had no issues, even with a overclock of 5GHz on the 3770k.

i just recently swapped out the Corsair 600w for a Cooler Master V700 (absolutely solid PSU btw) due to the extra power consumption from 670 SLI.

i think you'll be just fine however, if you have plans on getting a second GTX 770 later down the road, i think the cooler master 700w psu i just mentioned or the rosewill 750w would be a good choice. 😀

Thanks for the answer, but, I'm not sure if your answer is relative to me, you are using the 670, which takes only 170w, I however am using the 770, which takes 230w. Would that 60w really not matter, and was your system stable at 5.0? How many watts does the CPU need when you clock it that high? Your answer however was very helpful, but I would like a little more help if that's alright.

one of my GTX 670s will draw up to a much higher wattage, in BF3 it was about double what you stated.(http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/07/25/gigabyte_geforce_gtx_670_oc_video_card_review/10#.Urus_mS3Vec).

a reference design GTX 770 may pull up to a max of 230w but, depending on the manufacturer you buy from, this can be much more; for example, Gigabyte GTX 670OC GPUs are based on GTX 680 PCB and has the capability to pull more power when needed.

the GTX 7xx series still uses the Keplar GPU architecture just like the GTX 6xx series.

Ok, so just to make sure, I CAN overclock my CPU or GPU and I will be fine? Just want to make sure. I have the Gigabyte version of the 770 btw.

you should be able to overclock with no problems whatsoever. however, i will say 600w is probably not enough for a GTX 770 SLI setup and high overclocks.

Yeah, I won't SLI til I get a better PSU for sure. Thanks for all the help!
