comparison of i5-7400 vs i5-2500k
http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-7400-vs-Intel-Core-i5-2500K/3886vs619
The RX 580 is approximately 50% more graphically powerful than the RX 570, yet only costs $25 more.
The sandy bridge i5-2500K is equivalent to a kaby bridge i5-7400, and avoids the hassle of upgrading the motherboard and RAM. Plus you don't have to worry about the possibility of the Windows license becoming invalidated.
The Seasonic S12II 520 is unfortunately non-modular however it is still high quality. Add to that the price of only $45, which saves money to put towards the selling and buying price difference between the i3-3220 and i5-2500k.
One last thing: When you're ready to move to a new platform, both the RX 580 and Seasonic S1211 can be transported to it. Only the i5-2500K would remain behind in the old build. The beauty of these PC components is that approximately 80% of your investment remains viable.
Just my two cents...
