PSU : HP d3006a0

Solution
To keep building costs as low as possible, factory-fitted PSUs are generally not high-quality units and have just enough wattage to supply the default system components. If you upgrade the system (ie fit a more powerful GPU) without also upgrading the PSU, it is indeed possible for the GPU or other components to be damaged if the PSU suddenly fails because it has been overloaded.

So your HP PSU will be fine as long as you don't do any substantial upgrading (particularly upgrading the GPU).

Hello Nikos Grammatopoulos,

The PSU HP D3006A0 is a 300W PSU that can deliver 19Amps on its +12V rail, which is very basic.

So if you're considering any serious upgrade like a graphics card, it is highly recommended that you upgrade the PSU.

Cheers!

Hmmm so i decided to remove the dvd drive will this do the work? my current gpu eats 25w and the one i will put eatts 55w well what do you think?

Can you tell me what GPU you have and what new GPU you intend to upgrade? Also the processor?

My current gpu is gt510 the new gpu is gtx 750 2gb and my current cpu is i3 550 3.2ghz

Can you plz answer? i still have time to cancel the orfer

Please upgrade to a better PSU and get GTX 750. I don't want you to gamble and put the other PC parts in harm's way.

Yea but there isnt a big difference in W between those cards i mean the gtx 750 is 35W more and i remove the dvd drive and win about 20W si u just charge my psu 15 more W is that a big deal?

What I said in my previous comment is the solution. Big deal or not, we still have that lingering doubt and that's the reason why you keep swapping parts. So what you do is gambling, which may pay off or go the other way.

Let me get this straight:

HP D3006A0 is a 300W PSU that can deliver 19Amps on its +12V rail,
The GTX 750 need a quality 400W PSU with 20Amps on +12V rail.

The key criteria in choosing PSU is its Amps delivery on +12V rail. So in your case, its already 1 Amp short and doesn't meet the requirement and also there is 100W shortage. So clearly, you need a PSU upgrade.

Source?

MSI GTX 750 Tech Specs says 400W minimum

GTX 750 EVGA Superclocked 2GB on Game Debate says 300W but the Amps requirement is 20Amps.

Like I said the critical fact is Amps on +12V rail. Your PSU clearly short of Amps. Also your PSU label says it can produce only a max output of 260W. So get a new quality PSU and game without worries.

Have a look at this sir http://www.game-debate.com/hardware/index.php?gid=2510&graphics=GeForce%20GTX%20750%20Asus%202GB%20OC%20Edition
