The Ryzen 3600 is a good CPU for gaming & editing. As for what to get though depends on when you need to upgrade, with the 4th gen coming out later this year (no time frame yet) it may be something to consider getting.

For a motherboard the MSI B450 boards are good because the allow for BIOS updates without a CPU.

Really? My 8320 is at 4ghz and 8 cores I thought that because it has more it would be better
It also has very poor IPC(instructions per clock), which is why they weren't all that good compared to the Intels of the time that had less cores and in some cases a lower clock speed but were still faster. There is more to cpus than clock speed and cores.

The FX 8320 has 4 modules and can do 8 threads. The R5 3600 has 6 cores and can process 12 threads and has a vastly improved IPC.

In Passmark for example the 8320 scores 8038, the 3600 scores 19866.

No, it's an older and less efficient design. You get much more work per GHz out of a Ryzen than out of an FX. Plus, the Ryzen 5, while being 6 cores, is 12 threads. The FX wouldn't stand a chance against a Ryzen.

Also, I would save some money and go with a Ryzen 5 2600 instead of a 3600. You're getting about 85-90% of the performance of the 3600, but for much cheaper. The 2600 and 2600X have occasionally dipped under the $100 point with some sales.

i know its a long shot but apparently ddr5 comes out this year would it be worth it to save up as much as i can and then get all the brand new chips and boards
