Hello,

So i have had this PSU for a couple of months after my old one exploded or something (it cached on fire while playing minecraft lmao) and i had to urgently go to best buy and buy one. I grabbed the only one that was left, and it was like 60 bucks or something. Anyways, i bought it and i have noticed that the fan makes A LOT of noise when playing game and even when idle. Changing PSU isn't a option, and i need to find a way to kinda silent it a little. Anyways, any idea on how to silent it a little? Spraying it with compressed air to take the dust out? (not sure if that helps) or i can even put like some foam (not special foam, foam that i have that came with my headphones) around the psu, not blocking the fan of course. I dont know, please help me! Thanks!

A video that shows my fan noise and why its annoying me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJqRltCmV5w&feature=youtu.be

I strongly would not recommend taking apart a PSU as it can be dangerous or fatal. I would used compressed air to clean it out. Sounds like your PC might have an airflow or ventilation problems since an earlier PSU caught fire. Make sure your PC isn't on the floor or carpet. Make sure you have at least two case fans. And ensure that your case has proper airflow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sh6F2eccMec

What CPU and GPU do you have? It is possible the PSU is being maxed out.

If none of these solutions work, then the PSU might be faulty, and I would recommend investing in a better quality PSU.

Hello,

No my last psu died because it was refurbished. I bought it refurbished thinking that everything would be alright, but it didn't end well lol. I have a Fx 6300 and a R9 380 2gb. My case has 4 case fans. It has proper airflow as everything is significantly cool when gaming. The only problem i am finding is the noise it makes. It does have a lot of dust, which i was going to clean anyways, but do you think dust is causing the noise? and no, its not in a carpet.

Nope, it still sounds horrible. It sounds like a super loud fan that never stops. Any PSU recommendations for 40 ish dollars?
