Recently my PC made a popping sound when I tried to power up. Initially I felt it was a PSU issue. The CPU harnness with the 24 pin plug has all black wires so as far as jumping the plug contacts to see if the PSU fan works, I am not sure about how to approach that angle. I have a new PSU but am stuck technically. Any help will be much appreciated. I miss my gaming PC.

i dont quite understand your post really well so forgive me

1) plug the jumper into the 24pin connector that is coming from the PSU and see if the fans spin

2)if that doesn't work it is more than likely your mobo

3) if you heard a pop its more than likely your PSU i would attach the 24 pin connector FROM THE NEW PSU to the mobo and see if the system boots up

The procedure that I read for placing the jumper on the 24 pin plug contacts identify the contacts by the wire colors. The wires to my 24 pin plug are all black so there is no red or green wires. How can I identify the contacts where the jumper is to be placed?
