Hello all,
I just purchased a GA-K8NF-9 and a GA-K8NS-939 NF3 ULTRA, both with a
3000+, will arrive by this weekend. The PSUs I bought do not have a 24
pin connector and reading some of the posts here I find (too late)
there might be a problem.
Will the 20 -> 24 pin adapter work? or will I have to get a new PSU. I
dont think I can return it for anything but the same model.
Thanks for any assistance.

More often than not it will work fine. There are the odd occasions when it
does not work.

The PSU must be ATX v2 compliant, with the additional 12v header to plug in
next to the CPU socket. If it's 20 pin but has the 12v header, ATX v2 and
good quality then it will work - mine does.

The GA-K8NS-939 NF3 ULTRA I just received has a 20 pin connector. I
would be annoyed if it had 24 as the vendor failed to mention that.

I installed a new K8NS-939-Ultra today with an Antec 350. The 20-pin
connector was fine, i.e. it did not need the 24-pin. As long it's an ATX 12
v2 with the 4-pin connector for the CPU you should be OK. I hope that you
didn't opt for an el-cheapo PSU but purchased a name brand like Enermax,
Enlight, Antec, or (the best) PC Power & Cooling. This is especially
important if you install one of those power-hungry video boards like the
ATI 800 or the Nvidia 6800. They like a lot of power and they like it
clean.

I just assembled it today. Has a MSE Vigor 500 PSU, no power problems
so far. Everything fires up fine and BIOS show good power ratings.
