in reference to this post i made a little bit back

http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2788518/psu-powerful.html

I bought the 1000w EVGA G2 and it runs good for about an hour or so now before freezing. I was wondering if it possible to use the stock ATNG 600w power supply that came with the PC and use the EVGA Detection Tool as the ground connector and run the video card off just the 600w PSU. I have the 600w plugged in with the detection tool but not into any of the computer components as of yet. The 600w does turn on and seems to be functioning fine with the detection tool.

so is it possible to run every but the video card off the 1000w EVGA G2 and the video card off the 600w ATNG with the EVGA detection tool?

Thanks in advance

Solution
Already changed to the 14.12 drivers?

Can you try with the side of the case fo? Maybe aim a table ventilator on it.Maybe with the cpu you have that the motherboard has heat issues.
was just reading up online about games freezing. i am running the dual power supply set up and it works fine but is still freezing. i was reading it could be thermal compound issue with the heatsink possibly? it only freezes in games after about a 20 min to 40 min of game play.

So far no dice :| i went back to using the single EVGA G2 PSU because it was still freezing. I have run the windows memory diagnostic to see if it was bad RAM on a standard 2 time pass on default settings and found nothing. Currently I am running a video card mem stress test on the video card. I am just so lost at the moment and idk what to do :/

Here is some more insight on the issue at had. So the computer freezes mostly when playing games and just recently froze after I uninstalled CCC for the video card and tried to reinstall CCC 15.15. The computer doesnt shut down or anything like that after it freezes. It just sits there at the same spot it was at when I was playing. All sound stops and nothing can be herd from the computer itself. Thought it could have been the video card overheating so i changed the OverDrive settings to 75% fan speed and it is still freezing. still dont know whats going on or what to do. :|

The ram is running at rated specs? Maybe try the jedec settings for 1600mhz. You can see these values with cpu-z,for current speed the memory tab,for the settings you look to the spd tab.

Try for drivers 14.12,they do good with me.The later ones seem to give problems with my two 7870's as well.

there is the current settings on the spd tab both sticks have the same specs.

I will try 14.12 as well but it takes little bit to get it to the point of freezing so bear with me :)

So it's running at the basic/spd settings for 1333mhz.Can you go into the bios and try 1866 (933) with latency's of 10-10-10-28? Try 1.5V,but 1.6V might be necessary.Maybe that 9-10-9-28 will work too,it's abit of trying here.

It seems that the motherboard has XMP support, try to enabkle that in the bios, choose the profile for 1866mhz.

14.12 wont even recognize my video card I was thinking about trying a table fan and seeing if that was the issue cause my sensor reads about 44c around the time it freezes and that on is on the metal heat sink on the bottom of the GPU

temps staying below 31c on the video card and below 35c on the cpu so far so good not even a slight stop. Ill get back with you in a couple hours but i am with you on the temps and the over heating. <3 for now :)

Temps are probably the easiest thing to take care of,but i would look at the motherboard too.Get some fans aimed at it,maybe that the chipset is overheating resulting in the freezes so look at that too.
You seem to have an adequate cooler already so i would look at some decent cooling for the motherboard first.Maybe something like this,
https://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=9&ved=0CFIQFjAIahUKEwj0paDJpobIAhVJ7nIKHehSD3k&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.co.uk%2FAntec-Spotcool-100-Blue-LED%2Fdp%2FB005JSA4K4&usg=AFQjCNFIVbiubSaFO_hkoVV7lRs1h3S2MA&cad=rja
works like this,
https://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCwQtwIwAWoVChMI9KWgyaaGyAIVSe5yCh3oUg95&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DmWUOCEM9-GI&usg=AFQjCNGMMocad-neDTzDRmFdNRFzflgWDQ
needs to be aimed at the chipset.

Also don't know which case you have so maybe look at that to😵ne that really has a good airflow, that can take care of the heat from that system you've got.

From the other thread he made,

That's decent cooling and an air cooler for such a cpu isn't that great putting it mildly, maybe that the NH-D15 will do.

For the gpu look at something like this,
https://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCAQFjAAahUKEwjPzMuQuorIAhWk93IKHT8jCEI&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nzxt.com%2Fproduct%2Fdetail%2F138-kraken-g10-gpu-bracket.html&usg=AFQjCNGNFs1qSLxszfo0m0rhFGeqwGS2Zg
combine that with a 120mm aio watercooler like the H55/H60 if you want better cooling.

Dont't use the 212 EVO for that cpu,it's just not good enough. You could first try some better fans at that cooler you have like these,
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/noctua-case-fan-nff12pwm
maybe that some better fans can help or get the H100i GTX or Cooler Master Nepton 240M,well like those.Cleaned the cooler already?
For air cooling does the Noctua NH- D15 seem to be fine (saw a video where the D14 did fine) if the case can take it.
