PSU to GPU power connectors

Greatings mates. Build:
-i5 4670 3.4Ghz
-Gigabyte B85-HD3
-PSU Super Flower SF500P14XE 500W Golden Green
-1TB Samsung HDD
-120Gb Intel SSD
-FullHD Benq Monitor
-2x4Gb Corsair Vengeance Ram

I want to get an Sapphire R9 390 Nitro version and it has 2x8 pin connectors and my psu only has 1x6+2 pin and 1x6 pin power cables for pci-e.
I had earlier an Asus R9 290 which was a beast and worked out pretty well with this psu.
What can I do to fill up the gpu' needs in terms of power so I can fill up the empty spaces? Help is appreciated.

the r9 requires 650w psu, so you actually needa new psu

The 390 require 650W. I'd be a bit cautious, ideally if you can afford to upgrade I would.

Thanks for helping! It has about the same power consumption with the R9 290 I had before, slightly more. I've calculated the wattage required for this system with the r9 390 and it doesn't exceed 500W. I'll definatly use one of the cables you mentioned and probably later will get a new PSU, but this one, I must admit it's a hell of a PSU since it is capable even of SLI with only that wattage. Also, I got another question: Which of the cables would work better? Does the 6 to 8 pin cable sends in enough power for the 8 pin GPU connector? Thanks again, I appreciate.

I meant something else. If the adaptor from 6 pin to a 8 pin ( this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200420 ) send the same power as an 8 pin to a 8 pin connector.

I used it the entire year and ran great. Had no problem with it. Worked like a charm in heavy usage since I play lots of games.

I find that strange to believe but if you say so, then you can do the same with the r9 390

I believe the BARE minimum is 550W, but most suggest 650W. I wouldn't fully trust the PSU calc sites, and I'd strongly suggest upgrading your PSU. 6 pin to 8 pin will work fine in that area, read the reviews on the Newegg site if you're unsure.
