So recently i bought a Lepa n500 500w PSU , and ofcourse it whines. The whine noise is very faint and silent but it's so high pitched that it causes me a headache. I have a questions, will different PC parts can induce the noise? Im asking this because im buying a Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 TI card and my old PSU doesn't have a PCI-E 6 pin plug. New card will use 50 watts more energy, will vibrating coils vibrate more? Will the whine drop out of my audible range?
Current PC Specs :
Intel Core i3-540 3.06 Ghz
4 GB DDR3
Nvidia GeForce GT 430

No way to tell if adding parts might change the whine I suspect it will get worse if you tax it more but it possibly could go the other way. I'd be more worried about putting a bottom rung PSU into my computer in the first place, but if you already have it I would give it a try.

Never heard of Lepa before, sounds like a "no name" brand. I'd be nervous plugging hardware into it especially if it whines.

You said you bought it recently so it might not be too late to return it for an exchange or reimbursement.

Lepa is owned by Enermax i think, psu isn't 80 plus, but it's pretty high quality, they also make 80 plus PSU's and high end up to 1600 W

All right, but if you're worried about the whine and it's a brand new PSU, it's not too late to bring it back to the store for an exchange.

Unfortunately, there is no way for us to tell if the whine is normal or not, or if it will worsen and fail over the years.

I thought that Corsair PSUs were pretty good? Especially their TX and HX line-up.
