Hi all, first, here is the list of components

Motherboard: MSI x99a SLI Krait edition (used) Manual: https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X99A-SLI-Krait-Edition#down-bios

Ram: 2x8 gb ddr4 3200 ballistic (brand new)

Graphics Card: MSI r9 390 (used)

Core: i7 6800k (used)

PSU: EVGA 750w Bronze (used)

Storage: WD 2TB hdd (brand new)

One thing to note, the CPU power on top of the motherboard has an 8 (JPWR2) and 4 (JPWR3) pin connector from the psu and I am using three 4 pin connectors to fill them, 2 from one cable and 1 from another, should I look into getting an 8 pin cable?

All used parts worked when they were last pulled out of a computer.

When I press the power button, all the fans spin, the ram lights up and the fans on the GPU spin up.

There are no warning lights on the motherboard and I believe all of the switches on the board are in the correct position.

Despite all of this, the monitor always says "no signal" but the computer does stay on

I have tried:

  1. using different cables from the GPU to the monitor (hdmi,DP,DVI)
  2. using a different monitor
  3. plugging gpu into a different pci slot
  4. taking out the motherboard battery
  5. replacing motherboard battery
  6. reseating ram
  7. reseating core
  8. cleaning off the gpu connector
  9. letting it run for a while

Any Ideas?

Solution
Is the GPU in the 1st PCIe slot? try different PCIe slots

in which dimm slots did you install the RAM?
recommended is Dimm1 and Dimm2

check if all switches on the motherboard are set to default

Eventually the BIOS of the motherboard is too old for the 6800k. In this case you would need a compatible CPU and flash the BIOS with it to be compatible with the 6800K.

check the cpu socket pins of the motherboard for bent or discolored ones
