How much pain is that bottleneck likely to cause? Would I lose so many frames that I may as well just get a 2080 Super? 2070 Super? Even worse GPU with a cheap Ryzen + mobo + DDR4?

I'm looking at playing Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p with the best I can get without upgrading my entire rig - which I really want to wait until next year to begin, when I can afford superior components.

Getting a 30X0 would be ideal as it would get used in the new rig next year, but I don't envisage being able to get hold of one. I'm prepared to take the hit on reselling the 20X0 next year when I upgrade (probably about £250) as I don't get to game much thesse days and this title is probably the only thing I've been really looking forward to for the past 5 years.

Solution
Framerate is mostly dependent on the CPU.
Eyecandy comes from the GPU.

Putting in a better GPU than what you have now does not make things run slower.
