Is it possible to take out the cpu of a laptop and put it inside a desktop? I have an old laptop which has a significantly better cpu than my desktop, i was wondering if i could take the cpu from the laptop and put it in the desktop.
Chances are your CPU is soldered into your laptop MoBo. They're not made to upgrade, swap, etc... However, you could just hook your laptop up to your monitor and use it like a desktop. I do it with my Surface Book 2 everyday.
No. Time to upgrade. Let me rephrase, with older CPUs, it is highly doubtful itll fit a desktop motherboard. But as stated below without knowing what you are working with, its impossible to tell. But it is time to upgrade.
