Recently build a new computer my mother board (Asus MAXIMUS VIII HERO ATX LGA1151) displays a Q-CODE 53 "Memory Initialization error. Invalid memory type or incompatible memory speed"

The computer powers on but doesn't venture further other then displaying that number. The ram I used isn't on the QFL list from the manual does this even matter? (I picked via PCPartpicker and it said everything was compatible) The ram I am using is G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 Memory. I have switched different slot with different ram and using all the slots as well as turning on the computer without any RAM and it still displays the same error number.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi sleepypanda8 :)

They should work but no Guarantee as 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3200 is a lot to ask of the IMC (Integrated Memory Controller).

The QVL list is there for a purpose. It lists all DIMM kits that have been tested to work with your MB.
Yes they may still work but you take a risk. Obviously with Qcode 53 they are failing to initialize.
It is still possible to manually enter Primary Timings and voltage when in Bios, If you can get there.!!
If not then return the modules that you have and choose a tested kit.

Memory modules with memory frequency higher than 2133 MHz and its corresponding timing or the loaded XMP Profile is not the JEDEC memory standard. The stability and compatibility of these memory modules depend on the CPU’s...

Clear CMOS prior to installing new DIMMs.
