Q: how do I see files in "details" mode from within an app..

I want to be able to default the files window that I get with the
"file/save as" or "file/open" to the "details" mode. I want this for
any application that I use.

How do I do this?

open an explorer window, got to "view" and change to "detail". Then go to "tools/folder options/ view" and click on the "like current folder" button to set it as the default view.

Hello:

What you are describing sets the Windows defaults for the Explorer.

What I am looking for is changing the default for the "File/Open" interface.

Something like the following image represents:
