Good heavens that's hot. I've read elsewhere not to take the Q6600 to 72c or higher.

Would be quite cool to see a Q6600 running at 4Ghz at a safe temperature though. Be a fast son of a gun.

btw, the best mobo on the cheap which is not a cheap mobo is the msi p35 neo2-fr, i used it and achieved these results, i also used it on my qx9650 and achieved 20k on 3dmark06 and a 4.25ghz o/c on that processor but I only used 1.4v versus 1.7-1.9 for the q6600

What was the factory VID of the chip you used?

And yeah, I have been preaching the same thing. I just takes an insane amount of voltage to get prime stable after that 3.6-3.8 mark, depending on VID.

it was high i cant remember but over 1.3 if i can remember correctly, still doesnt matter, it does if you want to get prime stable at 3.6ghz but after that you have to push the cpu with rocket boosters, lol

Yup. I have the best VID chip so far, but cant use it! Waaaahhh! 3.6 at under 1.300v Loaded!! But I lapped it, and believe it or not, that hairs worth of copper I removed makes it where my water block no longer makes full contact! Waaaahhhh!
