That's cool... really nice overclock with a stock tuniq setup. I'm also running mine stock with an average idle tjunction temp of 39c and low to mid 50's prime loaded, in an 85 to 90 degree room. I guess that isn't bad for a b3 q6600@ 2800, what do you think?

Yeah... I pretty much overclock along with the seasons, lol.

I'm probably going to try for 2.9 to 3.0 with the current ambient temps, (should be around or under 60c) and maybe 3.2 to 3.4 when the room cools off in the fall/winter.

Take what ever advice Lupiron has to offer he is the ****.
I just hit 16079 on 3dMark 6 and he helped me with overclocking my computer a few months ago. I think i was still stuck at 3.55 or some thing.
Thanks a lot for the help.

Can you post your 3DMark share link? Would like to compare - if not then run one and post the link if you can.

I am going to try to get my CPU up to 3.2. Under high load when stress testing with the Q6600 G0 what are good temps to keep it at?

OK cool - thanks. I hope to get my CPU up higher, right now its tough with it being summer and very hot, hopefully in the fall can do more work on it.

That's a great score for your system - nice job!

I got 17,000, however I am only at 3.1 GHZ - for some reason the temps in my comp are higher then I would like.

At 3.1 Idle I get 43-40-37-38 and when using OCCT I get 63-63-59-59- so 3.2 is out of the question. Not sure why- I removed the heatsink and went through all that and still nothing. Very frustrating - if I could OC more I might even hit 20,000 😛

mcj66106,

I tried the S1283 and the True Black 120 - right now the True is in there. I tried to switch it, but still the same results.

Temp in the room is 80 degrees w/ AC on I keep it at 70. I used the artic silver 5 and followed the directions to apply the compound (never had a problem in the past).

Right now current voltage is 1.264 and my VID is 1.3.

I could try putting it on auto, but the temps probably would be pretty high. I tried 3.2 w/ 1.3 and when at full load they were hitting over 65.

Yeah I have tried a few different heatsinks and have the same results. It is very hot since it is summer so the room temp is high, especially when I am not home and no AC is on. Also it does take 200 hours for the artic silver to fully go through a cycle so I will wait on that.

I will have to check to see if hot air is coming out of the computer.

I think if I tried to go for 3.2 I would be hitting temps over 70 with load and that is not good.

I know people will argue this point forever, but... When ever I pass two hours or stress testing, I have always passed 8 hours as well, with the same configuration. In my opinion this whole thing where everyone says" you need to stress test it for a month man" is a little over kill.

I do 8-10 on OCCT and if you can do that then you are set.

OK re-seated heatsink and fans are on correct and same temps- guess its the way it is, maybe got a bad processor for OC - each one is different.

Now on to the next question - in the article it lists the G0 of the Q6600 and the temps of it - which are:

--70--/--75--75--75--75-- Hot
--65--/--70--70--70--70-- Warm
--60--/--65--65--65--65-- Safe

So if I am going to do an OC test and the temps are all 75 then is that still OK when stress testing or should the temps be in the safe zone of 65?

I interpret that as 65c being safe for your chip for 24/7 use.

And 75c being on the hot side, and may lower the life span, but fine for stress testing.

I have sent a pm to Computronix in the past, with a link to my thread and he has responded and helped.
