q6600 OVERCLOCKING QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys i just have a question, would apreciate if you could answer it...

whats the most i can overclock a q6600 with complete stability on air?? ill be using an x48 DFI mobo and a zalman 9700 after market cooler...
in case it matters im using 4gb of g skill ddr2 1066mhz...

The Zalman 9700 really can't handle the high heat load of a quad.

Most people with those coolers wind up somewhere between 3.0ghz-3.2ghz. 3.0ghz shouldn't be super hard to hit.
 
Depends very much on the CPU. Some may not go passed 2.8Ghz with the best air cooling. Some may go to 3.6-3.8Ghz with stock cooling. It's the luck of the draw. The CPU's VID helps dictate the CPU's OC potential (the lower VID, the better).

i dont want push pins... any other really good hs for an overclocked to 3.2G q6600?
i want my temps in the mid 40's to low 50's... under load...
 
I've been running 3.4 GHZ on my Q6600 w/ a Zallman 9700 in the 60's under a 12hr stress test. The Xigmatek is the new top dog but it's a very slight advantage over the Zallman. Tom's has an article that will back me up on that. IMO It's not worth the switch. Like the others have said it's luck of the draw on the CPU some overclock great some don't. I didn't lap my heatsink and CPU but I'm going to for the hell of it just to see if it's really worth it. Besides it's fun to play around!
 
I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L mobo, with 4 x 1GB G.Skill DDR2-800 @ 500MHZ 2.1V(1000mhz effective)5-5-5-15. My G0/SLACR Q6600 is overclocked to 3.6ghz on air (a.f. pro 7), my fan at 100% (2800RPM). 400 x 9. 400 x 2.5. 1600 FSB. 1.3875 in bios but 1.36 in speedfan and cpu-z.

EDIT: My ram was 20 bones a stick on newegg, i think if i got some better ram my pi score would be better(?).
