I do not have any heat issues in this case(In fact it is my coolest running system, but also the only one not overclocked), but would not like to add any. Also the 300 watt power supply(and rather basic VRM system of the board) is a limit(system games in about the 150 watt area if I trust my ups. 180 peak with prime + a game. so I am not pushing it THAT hard).

The case has a 120mm fan in front. It does not have much room for anything on the side because the video card takes the one side and the board is pretty close to the edge.

It was even harder with this setup

Any way. I better stop taking this off topic.

That is masochism or something, no offense please. It is like making a point, that "I can do it".

Edit. Is this now a trend, get as small as possible? I was always fascinated by large PCs with sophisticated cooling systems starting with I-computer Mach model line and ending with Digital Storm Sub Zero cooler equipped ones. I am talking about PCs made to order in large quantities, not a small experimental ones with liquid Nitrogen and similar atrocities.

Well that clears it up. This system was kind of an impulse experimental build over 5 years ago.

I wanted a smaller, quieter and more power efficient(that itx board and i5 750 sip power compared to my ATX + i7 920) media center pc. Could not be happier with it.

This machine does more than any of my previous media centers and because hard drives got bigger so fast the need for more drives was no longer an issue.

Maybe this was more to your liking, but without any fancy cooling. Has an NH D14 cpu cooler now.

This is closer to my appreciation of PC.

This is my early stage of moving Dell Inspiron 570 to a larger case, I actually created a guide on upgrading it

After last updates, MSI GTX 550 TI OC (the best cooled card in its category at time of purchase) was changed to MSI 660 Twin Frost (forgot exact name), used PCI slot for RAID card to add whooping 9 TB of storage using NAS drives (but system transfer speed dropped due to the limitations of PCI bus), so all hard drive bays are now occupied and all this mess is overclocked. I run Prime95 and IntelBurn for hours in hardest settings, the highest temperature was 63C with complete stability.

I don't want to post pictures, because they are not pretty, all this cable mess.... And nothing that special (just looked through the gallery) to point out, except that this was Dell's originally cheapest system.

This upgrade actually turn me in to help other Dell users, first at Dell Community Forums, then here. That is why I encouraged Robert Cook to investigate the issue and create a guide - to help the community at the end.

oh bad news. I put in the test chip with the BSEL mod, and my motherboard gave me six beeps. I figured it might want more voltage, so I did the VID 1.4 mod, but still six long beeps. I took off both mods, and still six, even when I put in unmodded chips I still get six beeps even after clear CMOS and popping out the battery. Is my motherboard toast? or can this be fixed?

Little correction on CMOS battery removal.
Unplug PC, press and hold power button for 20-30 seconds, next remove CMOS battery for at least 30 minutes, as soon as battery removed, repeat power button 30 seconds press and hold, after 30 minutes at least, place battery back.

In case we all needed, this is Optiplex 755 manual with troubleshooting pages, beeping codes are on page 70, diagnostic lights are prior to section.

OP need to dis-cipher those beeps according to manual, one of the 6 beeps is related to RAM, but there are much more 6 beeps descriptions.

Yep I tried this on Intel DG965 a few weeks back and the board just quit working. No boot since. It may be because it simply doesn't support 1333MHz FSB. Heck, it didn't support Core 2 Quad but it was running the Q6600 just fine until I did the BSEL tape mod (& then the voltage mod).

Oh well. I finally just found an ASUS P5Q for a decent price on eBay. I'll see how that works out when i get it. Should be a simply BCLK OC.

Since this thread is over 2 years old.

I are going to close it.

Feel free to post a new thread if you want to discuss this topic further or get any help.

Sorry to hear your board did not take the mod well. It is always a gamble. All my boards "supported"(p5w-DH was honestly not that good for the price) 333 so I never had to perform this personally.
