Hi all,
Just a quick question, will there be a noticeable difference between the two CPUs mentioned above FPS wise in games at stock speeds? Will the extra 0.2ghz and 4mb cache give a boost in performance in games?
Thanks in advance

Solution
it will be better for games, there are other improvements other than the cache, faster FSB, better multicore utillization and additional instructions. But the difference wouldnt be significant, might be talking 5-10% improvement.

its an old chart that compares them both, the games are a bit outdated but should give you some clue:

Upgrading from Q6600 to Q9550 is a waste of money, you will get max 10% more performance.
The increase of the performance does not really add huge boost for todays gaming.

LGA775 platform is already old, it is really time to let go and move on.
It is better not to spend any single cent anymore on it and start to plan for building a new rig based on Hasswell or Skylake (at least i5).
