so i bought a q9400 on ebay a few months back to replace my e8400, i bought an artic alppine pro 11 rev 2 cooler and installed it last month, ive only just started to game and checked my temps, and they are at 50c on all 4 cores idle, and 75c after 3 mins of prime 95 (so i stopped it asap), the cooler is running at 100% constantly to try to counter the temps but its still the same temps, can someone help me, the cpu is all stock, the whole system is stock clocks etc, here is a picture album of the cpu/heatsink/thermal paste, can you guys help me asap http://imgur.com/a/dyYnP

Solution
75C isn't that bad, ideally it would be lower, but that isn't exactly the largest cooler for a 95W chip. More of a replacement stock fan and they do say "up to 95W" To get lower temperatures you would need a cooler that exceeds that rating.

Did you replace the thermal paste after taking the pictures? You sure applied an awful lot of paste; the size of a cooked grain of rice is enough. The purpose of the paste is to fill the voids between the cooler and the CPU, not to isolate them.

i replaced it but it didnt make any differance, put about a pea size on

oh right, i just realised the cpu is 95w tdp and so is the cooler, should have went with alot better cooler
