You can only find used ones on Ebay if im not mistaken.

those chips hold there value very well i think there would be very little difference in cost outlay to get a new i3 and motherboard which will be as quicker in games and close in highly threaded apps

You can still buy the Q9550 new from some places, but at around $350 - $400 for a Q9550 it is just not worth it. For that amount of cash you can buy new Ivy Bridge i5-3570k CPU and a Z75 or Z77 motherboard to overclock it with. If you go with a lower model Core i5 that cannot be overclocked and a H77 motherboard which does not offer any overclocking option, then you can also afford to by 8GB of DDR3 RAM.
