[citation][nom]bildo123[/nom]I've modded a PS2 to play any region games, added a 120GB HDD and stored games on it and used some software to manage it all. I modded an Xbox with a larger HDD and faster cable (80PIn) as well as loaded up a fancy dasboard where I can view movies/pictures a library of installed games and a handful of emulators.I ghetto 'hacked' a 80mm fan to extended wires that were soldered to a molex power connector so that I can cool off my 24" monitor. But I wired it in such a fashion that it wasn't going full speed. It was acting funny and was very hot to the touch. Basically the component cables attached to my xbox were even 'sinking' out the heat it was so hot. There's a bunch of little other things but no serious swordfish type hacking.[/citation]

I like the comment "ghetto hacked". That's a good one. 🙂

I set up one of the first wireless hotspots in our area in 1997. The customers loved it. Then around 1999 the computer guy of the business next door sets up his network and it causes confusion and interference for our customers. I ask him to change frequencies so that we can be as far apart as possible and he just smirks at me and says he using CISCO wireless which was quite expensive and I'm using Linksys equipment and therefore he's for real and I'm using kiddie equipment. I bricked his next 5 CISCO wireless routers by flashing his router to software CISCO was constantly warning customers about.

I've done my share of playing around but I think my favorite was way back in grade 10 or 11 (I think?)
I had a friend who was a "computer guru" from a family of geeks.. coding RPGs/tron/snake clones/etc. for entertainment over lunch hour using qbasic...
I had just found out how to find and map shared drives over the internet. I told him I could access his computer and he laughed saying good luck. The next day hey came to school freaked because of the text file I had put on his desktop explaining how simple it was. Good times...

Or the other one was the Sub7 trojan I put on another friend's computer so I could open his CD drive so he would know to exit his game and jump on ICQ...

There are more but they were while I was young and stupid with no regard for people's property...

Back in college, I promised myself that I would never try to bypass anyone's security, so as to keep out of trouble.
The only time I broke that was as a VAX system administrator. I wrote a quick tool to check a dictionary and see if any words were someone's password. When I found one, that person was told to change his/her password.
