Hello all. I have an old copy of Quake 4 I bought back in the day. I never really could get Quake 4 to run right when I bought it so I simply put it away.
Lately I have been feeling "retro" in my gaming and have gotten the following to run well in Mint:
Quake 2
Quake 3
Doom 3
For Quake 4, I can get the game to run using:
quake4-linux-1.4.2.x86.run
After I install the package I copied the needed .pk4 files to the proper directory (/usr/local/games/quake4/q4base). I also used the CD Key that came with the game.
The game starts and runs except that the characters don't talk when you go up to them(this is pretty important). All the other audio works (explosions, shots fired, monsters screaming, etc.).
Doom 3 works perfectly and they both use the same id Tech 4 engine.
Anyone thoughts.
Thanks.
