Query about port forwarding

Hi,

First off, thanks for taking the time to read this, now coming to my question...

So my home setup comprises of a wireless modem from the ISP (it's make is some shitty local brand), although I do not use it for wireless connectivity, instead I have configured a wireless router, the D-Link DIR-605L Wireless N300 cloud router, which does the job fine.

Now, the IP configuration both of these use are respectively as follows -
ISP router - 192.168.1.1
D-Link DIR-605L - 192.168.0.1

Earlier when I was not using the D-Link & was directly connecting to internet thru the ISP modem/router itself, it was fairly simple to configure port forwarding for Vuze (my torrent downloading software), but since the time I have installed & begun using the D-Link one, I am sort of clueless about how to configure port forwarding on my pc from which I access Vuze as it now has an IP address from the range 192.168.0.x & even if i setup forwarding on D-Link router, the ISP one keeps blocking it. Is there any guide which I can refer to go about configuring the same?

If you enable UPNP port mapping on your router, that should take care of the forwarding for Vuze.

The easiest way to resolve this is to configure the DLink as an access point. You'll continue to have all the wifi functionality, but routing (and port forwarding) will be done through the ISP router, and you'll have only one subnet (192.168.1.x).

Thanks for your replies guys, but is enabling UPNP a safe enough option given the security risk it posed a while back?

I think I'll try the AP solution instead coz it seems like a fairly hassle free option, while still being secure to my mind.
