Hi guys, i am quite new about resolution and stuff and need clarification here.
So im i plan to get a this monitor with 3840 x 2160 resolution UHD monitor.

My question is:
1. Is UHD = 4K?
2. If i adjust its resolution to 1080x 1920, will it still be considered UHD? or will the quality decrease compare to original 3840 x 2160?
3. My PC GPU is GTX 970, would it be a problem if i use 3840 x 2160 resolution to watch youtube, movies, browse and ultimately, gaming?

Hope folks could help me here.

Solution

You can do that, and it will work, but while the game is running, the desktop is forced into the same size in full screen mode.

1) UHD is pretty much synonymous with 4K.

2) Dropping your resolution to 1920x1080 (landscape: Wider than taller) or 1080x1920 (portrait: taller than wider) won't change the fact that the monitor is 4K. It could, introduce jaggies though. It's always best to run a monitor at its native resolution because of that.

3) The GTX970 will do fine at 4K for basic desktop usage, such as email, movies, YouTube, and browsing. It will, however, choke at 4K resolutions in gaming. In fact the GTX980 has issues with 4K gaming at medium or higher detail levels with many games. The best two cards for 4K at this time are the GTX-1080Ti and the overpriced Titan XP.

Thanks for the reply.

For gaming, how if i change the resolution in game to 1920 x 1080? But keep the desktop and everything when I alt-tab as native 3840 x 2160?

Would that solve the gaming problem? I do not play AAA game, probably WoW or other mmorpgs
