Hi there everybody,
just stunned about why, upon attempting to start a new installation of Windows 7 (ultimate in this case) I don't get the starting install window (the one which comes with the "Install Now" button on the bottom centre) nor the EULA window but instead I'm ported to the "Select destination disk..." one, while the process itself starts with the "setup is copying temporary files" maximized window. I can't even check over the net for upgrades and so on.. but it's a fresh windows 7 ultimate iso image without any unattended file on it.

Any hint?

Awesome, got myselft the solution, even tough it's so silly to think about it :/

In few words once started , windows setup searches every removable drive for any file which might lead to an unattended setup which, if found, it's gonna be used for this purpose.

I had a modded windows 7 dvd in my dvd drive and, as it comes with an autounattended.xml file, that's what was causing the trouble.

It's one of the iso available & downloadable over the net, from a partner of Microsoft, Digital River.

You learn something new every day. I actually didn't know Windows would do that. I thought it would just check its own installation media.

Just so you know, I wasn't accusing you of software piracy or anything, but this forum does get a lot of people asking for help with pirated Windows.

Glad to hear you figured it out!
