question about cpu 8 pin connector (troubleshooting)

I'm trying to build my first build but It seems the cpu connector that goes on the top left of the motherboard doesn't fit (the 8 pin that goes in the psu fits but the other end,which is a split 8 pin doesn't fit.... as in the shape of the plastic molds don't match the mother board) (yes I tried really hard to make it fit but the molds simply don't match and yes, its the pcu cable)

Motherboards is asus maximus z97 and psu is ax 860 corsair (I have 2 of these wires bdw... lol and they both wont fit)

Use the cable labeled CPU. It should be an 8-pin connection with a split at the end. Check the instruction manual.
