Question about Define R5

It says on the website that you can remove the ODD cage in order to make space for extra components. In define R5 manual (link provided below) it has what looks like a HDD bracket in the space where the ODD cage is (scroll down to where it says remove top moduvent and then scroll over to the right). Is this possible, has anyone else done this?
