Hey everyone. So all of a sudden, in the last few days, my screen is tearing while playing GOT. NEVER had this problem, it's always been flawless. I have a Gigabyte GEFORCE RTX gv-3060 vision. Plus, another weird thing is that also just all of a sudden, the temp of the GPU is reading out at 60-69 C all the time while the games on. It's usually hovers around 49-55. Only occasionally going up to maybe 60.

I haven't changed any settings. The only thing I can think of is that somehow the Nvidia app screwed it up somehow? My computer just asked me to update to the newest Nvidia version of the Nvidia app and drivers. So my best guess is that is somehow did something, even though I never changed a thing.

Does anyone know how to fix this or what could be going wrong here and how to get back to normal?

Here are my specs;

Users are advised to list their specs in their thread's body as sig space specs can and will change over time. It's with this in mind, I've shoehorned your specs in the thread's body.

As for the PSU, how old is the unit? The RTX 3000 series were notorious for having high transient load spikes;

and the need for overprovisioning on your PSU's wattage(inclusive of a reliably built unit) to alleviate the issue.

Source(borrow not buy) a reliably built, higher wattage unit(something with 750W) from a friend or neighbor and see if the issue persists.

One other thing you can do, is use DDU in Safe Mode to remove all GPU drivers(intel, AMD and Nvidia) then manually install the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard?

Oh man. That's my old build. I redid it a year ago. I guess I need to update on PCPARTPICKER. But the GPU is the same and so is mostly everything else. The only thing that is different are aesthetic changes and the PSU. I upgraded to the Lian Li SP850. So there's no issues with power.

I'm not sure what BIOS version my Mobo has. I'd have to restart and check that out.

But I did some research while I was waiting to see if anyone knew what was causing this and there was a bunch of generic stuff. I went in and changed the Vertical Sync setting in the Nvidia Control Panel from some "use the 3d application setting" setting to just ON. Which is weird, because I never changed that or had it on anything but ON. But that seems to have corrected it for now. It's still running a bit warmer than normal. Maybe just due to the fact that the earth is on fire and having a massive heat wave.

I will keep that DDU in safe mode option on standby just in case anything further happens. Thank you for that and all the info about the PSU.

I would guess that G-sync was turned off when you updated the drivers and the card is outputting more fps than the screen can handle. As it works harder to make the fps that cause the tearing, it also draws more power and the temps are higher.

Ok, so I made some changes and yet now, the problem is that when I play Ghost, it's all slow and behind. The screen tearing is gone, but now it's like the game is in oil and just slightly behind all the time. This is SO annoying. Does anyone know how to fix this?! Why the F*CK would Nvidia make me update and download something that makes my game performance even worse?!

Hey everyone, still having issues. So I downloaded and installed an older Nvidia driver from Dec 2024. It initially fixed everything. But then yesterday when I was playing, the screen started tearing again. Those 3-4 lines in the screen that would shoot through my screen anytime I'd turn the character in game or move the view, the screen tear would happen. And I didn't change a SINGLE setting after I put the new driver on. I even used that DD program that completely uninstalls all the NVIDIA drivers and then you reinstall in Safe mode. And it didn't get rid of everything?! And I'm still having issues. Does anyone know how to fix this? This is SOO annoying and frustrating. I was playing my game just fine for over a year with no issues. Then NVIDIA says to update to the new driver, I do, and it screws up my game?!?! And now even after uninstalling it and fresh installing it's still not working properly and I can't figure out how to fix this.
