Question Question About Display Water Damage

Lets say hypothetically, I get water inside my display. My display is currently connected by a displayport to my GPU and a power adapter in the power strip. Is it likely that this electrical short/damage would damage my actual PC through GPU connection by DP or would the damage remain on the monitor only?

Too many variables to say.

If the AC side got in contact with the water and the low voltage connection back to the computer it certainly could break things. A low voltage short is more likely to just trip the PSU, though again, completely possible with the right circuitry in the way that it wouldn't be a dead short and shunt low voltage through some component that wasn't expecting it. That could cause permanent damage.
