Question Question about DLSS

I got 4070 super and i mostly playing on 1440p max out setting and i was wondering how DLSS work.it says that it render at lower resolution while still maintain higher image quality .if lets say i am on 2560×1440 and the real question is if i am using DLSS does the 2560 will be render at 2160×1440 or 2560×1200 ?which decrease it the resolution or the pixel or both?
