Question about ethernet cables and signal loss?

I live on the second floor in my house, so the wireless connection is quite bad, because the router is on the ground floor. I'm planning to get a wired connection, with an ethernet cable. I roughly measured the distance from the router to my PC, which was around 15m/50ft. I'll buy a cable of 20m/65ft or 25m/80ft, just to be sure. Now, my question is, will my internet suffer from any signal loss with cables of these lengths? Will I need a booster or something? Thanks in advance.

You can go to 100m with cat5e cable and you will get a full 1g connection with no packet loss. If you try to go over 100m by more than a couple meters it generally does not come up at all. This is not due to signal loss it is due to not enough voltage to be detected.

Generally there is no penalty for using a cable that is too long other than it gets in the way.
