Hi,

I got the recommendation from a technician to update the BIOS on my GA-P55A-UD4 motherboard. In the instructions he sent me I was also recommended to disable the option "Keep DMI data" in this utility (enabled by default). I now wonder if anybody here knows what this option is and why it could be good to disable it?

Also, I wonder if it is possible to keep the customizations I have made in the current BIOS? Or do I have to start from the default settings again?

BR,
Andreas

1) It is not recommend to use a Windows based tool to flash your BIOS. I would recommend flashing through a bootable device (DVD or USB). It is the safer option when flashing BIOS.

2) You will most likely need to reset up your BIOS settings, as flashing is recommended to be done at default settings.

The Q-flash utility recommended by the technician is not a Windows based tool. It is embedded in BIOS and loaded at boot-up.

Thanks for your answer. A little strange that "Keep DMI data" is enabled per default if it could cause you not to have a successful boot after updating the flash.
