Hello, I'm upgrading from a MSI GTX 970 4GD5 OC NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 PCI-E GRAPHIC CARD to a MSI GTX 1080 AERO OC GPU. I know the gtx 970 uses 6 pin and the gtx 1080 uses 8. Do I need an adapter or does it usually come in the box? Also my power supply is a 600 Watt - Corsair CX600 V2 - 80 PLUS Bronze. Thanks.

If there is an 8 pin connector on your power supply, it is better to plug that in directly instead of using an adapter, but if it is required, the card usually does come with a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter. As far as your power supply goes, 600 watts should be plenty as long as you aren't running a crazy CPU like a Core i9 or threadripper.

It should be a 6+2 cable, which would make an 8 when you combine them. It should not just be two 6-pin ones. Specs for the CX600 show it having 6+2 cables.
