Hello,
Last year I decided to build my very first pc, my current pc was built by family friend which is not available anymore. I decided to buy parts separately because I couldn't afford it otherwise, plus knowing myself saving up is not really an option for me. Anyways, long story short, I forgot to buy cpu. I was going for Ryzen 1700. I decided to re-initiate my little project now. so I was wondering if current gen ryzen (2700x) will be compatible to my motherboard (B350 Tomahawk).
I googled before posting here and found the site called pcpartpicker, i went there to find it out myself and I got this result "Some AMD B350 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Pinnacle Ridge CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions."
I don't really get it so. I'm not really a tech guy, so confused and little bit frustrated I ask you for some info.
Can a mortal like myself update bios?
How do I do that? (linking a some sort of video/guide would be much appreciated)
Will I have to buy better/different motherboard after all? I literally bought this and is brand new just sitting on shelf waiting for her time to shine.
My Motherboard is MSI B350 TOMAHAWK.

Even buying B350 today, there's no guarantee the newer BIOS' revisions are installed.

Without a compatible CPU, or a loaner CPU from AMD:

There's no way to update the BIOS yourself.

Some higher end boards support BIOS' updates without a compatible CPU installed, but those are very limited - and I believe they're all limited to X370 anyway.

Well that board does not appear to have anyway to update the BIOS without a compatible CPU installed first. So basically if that board does not come with a ryzen 2 compatible bios you would need a ryzen 1 chip on hand in order to boot into the BIOS and update it to support ryzen 2. It's a bit of a catch .22.

Updating the BIOS is a pretty easy process, your mobo's manual will tell you how to do it properly. You do nopt want to screw up a BIOS update so make sure to follow the directions carefully. But like I said above you would need a ryzen 1 cpu on hand to do this.

So basically for assured compatibility it would be best to get a ryzen 1 CPU. Unless you want to go through the hassle of returning that board and getting a B450 board which will be compatible with ryzen 2 out of the box.

It's impossible for me to get my hands on first gen ryzen without me buying it and since I live outside the US it'll be bit problematic to return the board (bought it like 5 months ago) plus I already opened the seal just to check whats up with the motherboard. I guess I'll just re-sell it locally.
Which motherboard can you suggest? price range around 80-120$
There is a lot to choose from, but don't know how to narrow down the list. Any recommendation would be useful.
