Question about my Processors

Hello,
I have an intel i7 processor. However, when I go into device manager I only see 4 processors under the processor section. Furthermore, when I further investigated, the task manager also only shows 4 cores being used. Also, in msconfigs advanced boot options, it only allows me to boot with 4 cores. Is this supposed to be happening?

which cpu--and if it has hyperthreading make sure its enabled in the bios

If you have a laptop there's a chance you have an i7 model with only 2 hyperthreaded cores. The naming scheme of intel's mobile sector is kinda wonky.

edit- nm, that cpu you have there ought to have 4 hyperthreaded cores.

my 2600k shows 4 cores 8 logical processors in task manager so check hyperthreading is enabled in the bios

The motherboard is called "Hewlett-Packard 1587h"

that sounds more like the pc model--probably some sort of asus board in it--use cpuz to get motherboard model

Update, it says here that there are 4 cores and 4 threads

But I still don't understand why there are only 4 things under processors in device manager, shouldn't there be 8?

What the model of the HP? did you upgrade the CPU?

HP Pavilion z210, it was originally an i5 but upgraded to an i7. I also recently replaced the hard drive and re installed windows 7 on it, after this upgrade.
