Hello All,
I have a Netgear AC1900 WiFi Range Extender (EX7000) which setup in Access Point Mode. The Netgear is in my living room and it connects via an ethernet cable to the main router (Residential Gateway, I have UVerse Service) which is in my office. Connected to the Netgear are various WiFi devices and My TV and Receiver connect to the Netgear via ethernet ports. I was re-reading my Netgear manual and I came across this:
Note: In access point mode, you can connect your computer or WiFi device to the extender only using a WiFi connection.
The statement seems obvious but to me it means that you cannot connect any devices to the ethernet ports on the Netgear. Everything must connect to the Netgear via WiFi. As I said, my TV and Receiver are connected to ethernet ports on the router and everything seems to work for the most part. Would it make more sense to put a switch in between my UVerse Gateway and the Netgear Router? I would then connect my TV and Receiver to the switch vs the Netgear.
2nd question. As I move around my house, I change from the UVerse WiFi to the Netgear WiFi and vice versa depending on which device I am closer. Its not a big deal to switch WiFi networks but I wondered if there is a way to avoid having to switching between the Netgear and UVerse.
Thanks, Bill
