So I recently moved into a new apartment, and my roommate and I share one of those portable routers that you plug into the wall for WiFi. The router is close to my room so I am using an Ethernet cord plugged into the LAN slot on the router to access the internet. I like to game (League of Legends), and my ping is fine except for when my roommate is also using the WiFi (usually only when he's downloading/ watching Netflix). My question is what are my options to get rid of the high ping when we are both using the internet? Thanks!

Router is a Viasat 4g/3g USB Router.

Not sure about that router and how you get your internet signal but I suspect you are just overloading your internet connection.

If you run speedtest what is the speed you actually get and what does the ISP say you should get.

If you are only getting say 5mbit netflix can easily use that much. It can eat a 20mbit connection if you watch the 4k media.

If you are using a lan connected computer you should not be affected by the WiFi ...as long as you are not exceeding the total bandwidth with the combined machines.
