I just have a simple question. If I were to get 8GB 1600MHz ram, and a appearently 2133MHz ram what would be better. Is 2133 just 1600 but oc'ed?!?!? Please some1 explain. Of course I know that the more MHz/GHz you have, the faster a unit is to respond. But like, basically is a 2133 a 1600 but oc'ed and the same with 1866/2200MHz. Are they stock at that setting, or what!? I'm sorry if it doesnt make sense....

P.S.I put it in the CPU section becuz, where else do i put it? I'm sorry...

Most 2133MHz RAM I have seen don't have CAS9 timings. They have either CAS10 or 9-10-11-28.

DDR3-2133MHz is not overclocked 1600MHz. JEDEC makes standards for DDR and currently DDR3 is set for 1.5v and goes from DDR3-800MHz to DDR3-2133MHz.

If you use faster DDR3, your memory bandwidth will improve but for most desktop applications, you wont see any performance improvement. Mostly servers need the extra memory bandwidth.

Anything beyond DDR3-2133MHz right now is technically overclocked DDR3 as JEDEC has not set any standards for it and I doubt they will since DDR4 is supposed to have a minimum of 2133MHz and go to double that, 4266MHz.

I read that the higher the bandwidth on ram the greater the diminishing returns, meaning a jump from a jump from 800 to say 1333 is pretty big but 1333 to 1600, while faster the performance boost isn't as noticeable and even more so for 1600 to 2133; is this correct?

would you be so awesome to explain what latencies are? because im hoping im not going to regreat buying 2 sets of 8gb 2133s today...
