Question about Samsung Glaxy Core

I plugged headphones which were not original, but some low end ones (temporary replacement for the original ones which died), and phone started flashing that they were connected, but after couple seconds, upon the slight circular movements of the plug it showed disconnection even though they were still plugged, then showed that they were connected again, and the said process of connection and disconnection display continued on alternately.

After unplugging and plugging dozen of times, the said process gradually started occurring less until it completely stopped and now everything is working fine.

Now I need your opinion, could it be faulty audio connector, some dirt that might have been in it or is it due to the low end build of the headphones, maybe there was something loose in audio jack which returned to place after numerous plugging and unplugging.

it sounds more like the headphones cable was broken at some part and when you moved it, it got connection and then lost it again as i have had same problems in the past with broken cables
